CUDO Plays Recommends

This week one of our committee members, Tom Ackerman would like to recommend, Blockers!

This game may look like perennial classic Blokus, but you’ll have to think in totally different ways in order to win. The Blockers! board consists of 81 squares.  The columns are numbered, the rows are lettered, and each larger 3 by 3 section has a symbol associated with it. Players must place their colored tiles in the appropriate place (your 3 tile must go somewhere in the 3 column, your star tile must go in the star region etc.). Players get points for each “island” of their color, and for capturing opponents’ tiles. The twist though is that the player with the fewest points wins. Still, sounds simple enough right? Well it is, until the board starts getting crowded. By the end of a game, you’ll be forced to make some tough choices, and this cheerful tile-placement game reveals itself to be quite cutthroat.
