Critical Review

The CUDO Plays Committee was thrilled to see so many teams come out for critical reviews. There were a few teams we hadn’t seen since Playtesting Convention in November! There’s still a few weeks for teams to put the finishing touches on their games before Turn-In.

CUBED Playtests

Playing The Forked Road

Multiple CUBED events this week with an open playtest on Sunday and a focused playtest on Wednesday for Season 5 game The Forked Road. Playtesters enjoyed The Forked Road and also enjoyed the cookies provided by the team (other teams take note, playtesters love snacks!).

You don’t need to be a con attendee to join in, but if you’re a Season 5 competitor, this is a great opportunity to get your game in front of some hardcore gamers that you might not see otherwise. Note that Winter War is at a new location this year! Facebook event

CUDO Plays Recommends

This week CUDO Plays recommends Smash Up.

Smash Up box

The “shufflebuilding” game Smash Up starts with a simple premise: Take the twenty-card decks of two factions, shuffle them into a forty-card deck, then compete to smash more Bases than your opponents! Each faction brings a different game mechanism into play – pirates move cards, zombies bring cards back from the discard pile, dinosaurs have huge power – and every combination of factions brings a different play experience. This game has been around for a while now and there are a huge number of expansion factions to choose from. Always a fun time.
