Playtest Convention – Saturday, November 3rd

Lincoln Square Mall @ 1:00pm – 5:00pm

Come to the CUDO Plays Playtest Convention for Season 6! This is a day to play the new prototypes and creations of the CUDO Plays teams and to get feedback from the Champaign-Urbana gaming community. Refreshments will be provided, and you will receive invaluable critique from people with years of experience. Teams can bring their games in any condition that they are in and playtest with people from the community. We will provide playtest feedback forms for players to fill out! Facebook event


Playtest Convention After-Party – Saturday, November 3rd

Arcadia – A Lumen Cafe @ 5:00pm – 8:00pm

After a bunch of game-playing, come to the Playtest Convention After-party! It’ll be at Arcadia – A Lumen Café right across the hall! Competitors, playtesters and all other participants are welcome. There will be food for purchase and cool game-themed cocktails from katie.cocktails. A portion of the proceeds go right to CUDO Plays.

Design Workshop – Saturday, November 10th

The CU Community Fab Lab @ 1:30pm – 3:30pm

Need some guidance on how to make your game look good while also being intuitive? Come to the Design Workshop! Real graphic designers will be on hand to help teams with their real-world design problems!


CUDO Plays Recommends

This week CUDO Plays recommends Sagrada.

In this game, each player builds a stained glass window by building up a grid of dice on their player board. Each board has some restrictions on which color or shade (value) of die can be placed there. Dice of the same shade or color may never be placed next to each other. Dice are drafted in player order, with the start player rotating each round, snaking back around after the last player drafts two dice. Scoring is variable per game based on achieving various patterns and varieties of placement…as well as bonus points for dark shades of a particular hidden goal color. Special tools can be used to help you break the rules by spending skill tokens; once a tool is used, it then requires more skill tokens for the next player to use them. The highest scoring window artisan wins!
